Directionality of Compact Alnico Monitors

Bought a pair of CAMs recently on the local used market (they don't come up often, if at all here on Norway so jumped at the chance).

Really lovely speakers and they are well broken in. Have set them up in my TV system with a Lyngdorf amp - not ideal, I know, but they sound great nevertheless.

However, when sitting in my listening position if I move my head even an inch or two to the left or right you can really hear the balance of the speakers shift, particularly when it comes to vocals. It's a really weird sensation and quite distracting. I'm sitting about 3-4 meters away on a couch directly in front of the speakers with about the same distance open behind me to a bare wall.

Is this typical of the CAMs? Anything I can do to lessen this effect? See picture for placement (pls ignore the kid and the paw patrol).

Try toeing them in at different angles even crossing a half meter in front of where you sit.
You should be able to find an angle that works for you in your room.

That reflective surface (table) between you and the speakers is not good for music, but I assume something you must live with.

They look like they are very close to the front wall.  If standard CAMs, there is a port in back.  Even without a port, or port plugged, there would be benefit if they can be pulled out from the wall at all.

Every room is different and my speakers are the SAMHOs, but FWIW I toe them in so the meeting point is a foot or two behind my head.

Regarding the table, a quilt or comforter spread over it when doing serious listening may help as well.
